Sustainability Extends Beyond Our Fields: Sunset Lake Cannabis Supports Vermont Foodbank
Updated: August 17, 2026
Here at Sunset Lake Cannabis, our commitment to sustainability extends beyond our fields and into our local Vermont community. That's why we continue to support the Vermont Foodbank's mission to alleviate food insecurity across the Green Mountain State.
We're proud to announce that this August we made a $2,500 donation to the Vermont Foodbank, the state's largest hunger-relief organization and our state's only food bank. They provide nourishing food via a network of more than 300 community partners throughout Vermont: food shelves, meal sites, senior centers, after-school programs, schools, and hospitals.
Key Takeaways
Sunset Lake Cannabis contributed $2,500 to the Vermont Foodbank, supporting neighbors across the state during a time when so many of our neighbors are feeling the effects of rising costs and limited resources.
This donation will provide $24,000 worth of nutritious food to Vermont families, thanks to the Vermont Foodbank's efficient distribution network.
Regenerative cultural farming practices extend beyond the fields into Vermont communities for the farmers at Sunset Lake Cannabis.
Farming Roots, Community Values
As a sungrown Vermont cannabis farm with deep roots in the state's dairy and agricultural traditions, we see local food systems as essential infrastructure. Our regenerative farming practices improve the quality of the soil we farm on. Community partnerships improve the quality of life for our neighbors. We see both as being part of our sustainability mission.
"We believe in taking care of our neighbors and investing in the well-being of our community," says our Founder & CEO, Sam Bellavance. "The Vermont Foodbank plays a vital role in making sure no one in Vermont goes hungry, and we're honored to help advance that mission."
Vermont Foodbank, a member of Feeding America, provides over 14 million pounds of food annually to people throughout Vermont. Thanks to their efficiency and community partnerships, our $2,500 donation will help provide $24,000 worth of groceries to Vermont families facing food insecurity.
"At this moment, our neighbors are being challenged by unpredictable changes to support programs, high food prices, and the onset of winter," noted John Sayles, CEO of the Vermont Foodbank, in a statement. "Addressing this food security crisis requires all of us working together to make sure that our neighbors have the food they need and want – we are grateful for our partners who recognize that need and join us in this work."
This donation is part of our ongoing commitment to Vermont community partnerships. We will continue investing in programs that help our neighbors thrive, season after season.
